About Us

The Gay Christian Network

The Gay Christian Network (GCN) is a nonprofit ministry supporting Christians worldwide who happen to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). Our mission, "sharing Christ's light and love for all," is carried out in 5 primary directions, to impact individuals, families, communities, churches, and the world.

Our Annual Conference & Local Events

Each January, the GCN conference brings together hundreds of LGBT Christians and their supporters from across the U.S. and around the world for a weekend of worship, fellowship, and fun.

Our January 2010 conference in Nashville, TN, was a huge success! Featured speakers included author/minister Dr. Tony Campolo and For the Bible Tells Me So's Mary Lou Wallner.

The next conference will be January 6-9, 2011, in Denver, Colorado. Bestselling Christian author Philip Yancey will be a featured speaker. More information will be available on our website soon, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, local events such as speaking engagements and seminars are available for your church or group, and GCN is planning mini-conferences throughout the US in 2010! Details will be announced on our website as dates are planned.

Through My Eyes

Our 2009 documentary film, Through My Eyes, looks at life through the eyes of young Christians who wrestle with what to do when they discover themselves to be gay.

This film has been widely praised by both sides as an eye-opening look at what it's like to be a gay Christian in today's world. It's the perfect gift for family members or friends to help them understand, and it's a great way to lead a discussion in a church group or other gathering of Christians.

The (In)Famous GCN Musical

At our 2007 conference, several GCN leaders surprised the attendees with a spoof musical, making fun of showtunes while delivering both laughs and a serious message. "Straight to Heaven" tells the story of a young gay Christian struggling to find his place in the world.

Though this amateur production was originally filmed just for our members, it became an unexpected hit on the internet, so we've decided to share it with you here!

GCN Radio

One of GCN's most popular features, GCN Radio, is a weekly internet broadcast on issues pertaining to LGBT Christians. Guests have included Evangelicals Concerned founder Ralph Blair, author Mel White, pop group Jason and deMarco, songwriter Marsha Stevens-Pino, Saved! writer/director Brian Dannelly, actor Chad Allen, former ex-gay leader Ann Phillips, and many more!

All of our old shows are available for download, and new shows can be automatically delivered via our iTunes podcast.

Online Community Support

Our website also houses an active online community "safe space" with over 15,000 members from around the world. Some of our forums are available for public viewing, while others require free registration.

Special forums include prayer support, Bible study, local groups, denomination-specific discussion, special interest groups, and much more. Some members have even met their spouses through our online community, while others have finally found the support they needed to reconcile their faith and sexuality.

The Great Debate

The "great debate" in the church today concerns God's will for gays and lesbians. Are we called to celibacy? Or does God bless gay relationships?

GCN believes that healthy discussion on this topic is important to the lives of Christians everywhere, and for the future of the church. Toward that end, our online "Great Debate" allows two gay Christians to (respectfully) battle it out in opposing essays about what the Bible really says on this topic. These essays are a terrific resource for any individual, church, or group wanting to understand the issues better.

As an additional resource, GCN hosts audio of Christian leaders Tony and Peggy Campolo debating this issue.

GCN's YouTube Outreach

With youth coming out earlier than ever before, it's important for them to have easy access to the answers they need on faith and sexuality issues. That's why GCN introduced Gay Christian Answers, a new YouTube series designed to answer common questions of both youth and adults alike in short, easy-to-understand video segments. In each video, GCN's Executive Director, Justin Lee, answers a new question on our YouTube channel.
