Make It a Vacation!
Orlando is home to some of the world's most popular theme parks and vacation destinations. While you're there, you may want to take a day or two—or a week!—to have fun with your family and friends. Among the many things worth checking out:

  • Walt Disney World Resort covers over 25,000 acres (nearly 50 times the size of California's Disneyland) and employs over 60,000 "cast members" in the largest recreational resort anywhere in the world! Among the many entertainment options at Disney World are its four main theme parks: The Magic Kingdom (modeled after Disneyland and home to classic rides and family-friendly fare), Epcot (a park about exploration, technology, and world culture), Disney's Hollywood Studios (themed to the "golden age" of Hollywood), and Disney's Animal Kingdom (featuring rides, shows, and exhibits themed to animals amidst lush environments). GCN's executive director is a big Disney World geek, so watch this space for more Disney touring details!

  • Universal Orlando Resort has been making headlines for its new and wildly successful "Wizarding World of Harry Potter," part of its Islands of Adventure park, which also features rides themed to Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Dr. Seuss, and more. Universal's other local park, Universal Studios Florida, features attractions for The Mummy, The Simpsons, Men in Black, and Shrek, among others. We'll have some Universal touring tips for you soon as well, because we know there are a lot of fans out there!

  • SeaWorld Orlando is just next door to the conference hotel, and if aquatic life is your thing, SeaWorld has enough rides and shows to keep you busy and entertained! In addition to live marine shows and exhibits, SeaWorld has serious thrill rides, including Kraken, "Orlando's tallest, fastest, and only floorless steel coaster." Hold on tight....

  • The VisitOrlando website has lots more information about things to do in the area, including Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil, and lots more.

What will you do in Orlando? Make plans with other attendees by posting on GCN's online conference discussion forum! (Free website registration is required for online forum access.)
