Last chance for Super Early Bird!
Wow! We're overwhelmed (in a good way!) at the early response to the 2012 GCN Conference registration! We told you we were hoping to get 100 registrants by the end of this month, and we've already met that goal and left it in the dust. Woohoo!
Seems like a lot of you are as excited as we are about the "Ambassadors of Reconciliation" theme for our conference this January. It will be the perfect opportunity to bring your parents, pastors, friends, and anyone else who may be on the fence about this whole LGBT and Christian thing.
...Or maybe you're just excited about taking some time off to see Mickey or visit Hogwarts. Either way, you're already breaking records for early registration, so we're sure this is going to be an awesome conference!
Remember, this is your last chance for Super Early Bird pricing, which ends Sunday. Click here to register now.
What workshops do you want to see this year?
Is there a subject you really want to hear discussed at the conference? Are you bringing someone who could be really helped by a certain workshop? Head over to the conference discussion forum to offer your thoughts and suggestions to the conference team. But even better...
Are you well-equipped to lead a workshop (or do you know someone who is)? Apply now (or encourage them to apply now) to lead a conference workshop that would be beneficial to the GCN community. We're always looking for great ideas, and we're especially interested in workshop ideas that demonstrate a lot of thought and planning, that help promote spiritual growth and bridge-building, and/or that address unique needs among the community of LGBT Christians and those who care about them. Remember, you need to register for the conference while logged in before completing a workshop application, so do it early to help us plan an awesome selection of workshops for this year!
Twitter x 3
Like keeping up with GCN on Twitter? You now have three different ways of doing so.
@GCNJustin is our executive director's account. He'll continue to tweet about GCN news and relevant ideas, but he'll also be sharing more personal thoughts and experiences as he travels, speaks, and meets people in the LGBT and Christian worlds.
@GayChristianNet is our new official Twitter account. GCN staff will update this account with the latest GCN news and links to articles on current events, and these tweets will update the Twitter box on GCN's website.
@GCNconf is the new Twitter account for the 2012 GCN conference. GCN's conference director will use this account to share conference-related news and ideas, and to solicit your feedback on conference plans.
Follow one, or follow all three! It's the fastest way to stay up-to-date on GCN happenings and offer your instant feedback. (Don't have a Twitter account? You can still read the latest posts by bookmarking the pages linked above.)
What about non-conference news?
Although this week's newsletter focuses primarily on conference news, don't worry: we've got plenty of other news coming soon, including something really exciting that's got Justin on pins and needles! Keep watching your inbox, because you won't want to miss it.
GCN's financial summary
A message from Brandon:
Hi, everyone! Hope you all are making it through the heat of these summer months and finding some time for some relaxation and fun! As you think about how you will spend your summer, prayerfully consider continuing to support the work and ministry of GCN through your time and your gifts. Currently, we are at 94% of our monthly need ($10,875 of $11,556). It is because of you that we can continue to do this work and we thank you! In addition to supporting GCN through a one-time gift or monthly pledge, also consider a contribution to our Scholarship Fund to help other people experience our conference in January. Thank you for all your support!
