The Gay Christian Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Isaac Archuleta as our Interim Executive Director. We are thrilled to work with someone as skilled and accomplished as Isaac, and we are confident he will help us move our ministry forward during this crucial time.
Isaac Archuleta, Interim Executive Director
A graduate of the University of Colorado and Denver Seminary, Isaac is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder and director of the iAmClinic in Denver, Colorado. iAmClinic is a busy counseling center with a special focus on the needs of the LGBTQ community and their religious families. Isaac is also the founder and co-director of the iAmProject, an initiative providing workshops, seminars, and other programs on sexuality and gender to churches, colleges, and other groups.
Through the iAmProject Isaac has also played a key role in helping influential evangelical churches become communities of faith that are fully welcoming toward the LGBTQ community, allowing people to serve at any level of church leadership.
Previously Isaac served as an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary, as the Director of Development at Desert Hope Ministries, and as a program coordinator at Times Square Church in New York City.
Isaac has done numerous interviews on NPR, Colorado Public Radio, and a number of nationally known podcasts. His articles have appeared in numerous publications, including the Hufngton Post, Amendo, and the Reconciling Ministries Network.
In speaking of his appointment as Interim Executive Director, Isaac writes,
“The Gay Christian Network has much to be proud of, and I seek to build on the incredible accomplishments of the staff, board, and volunteers. My desire is to fortify GCN's ability to empower LGBTQ lives as reciprocating beings with themselves, their loved ones, and God. I will approach my work with GCN with passion and conviction to strengthen your mission to create ‘…a world where the next generation of LGBTQ youth will grow up fully loved and embraced by their families, churches, and neighbors; and where Christians worldwide will live up to their calling as instruments of grace and defenders of the outcast.’”
As a young Hispanic son of two conservative pastors, Isaac feared coming out. Through the twists and turns common to many gay Christians, Isaac became committed to creating dynamic LGBTQ-affirming resources that converge at the intersection of sexuality, spirituality, and relationships. In this new interim role, Isaac will apply that same drive and creativity to preparing GCN for its next season of growth.
As the GCN board begins its search for our next permanent executive director, we are confident that with Isaac Archuleta serving as Interim Executive Director, and Constantino Khalaf serving as Director of Operations, the ministry of the Gay Christian Network will continue to serve the needs of the LGBTQ community.
